Customs officers stopped the illegal export of antique samovars, a microscope and medical equipment from Uzbekistan

    An attempt to smuggle cultural valuables was stopped at the Gishtkuprik border customs post, the press service of the customs administration of the Tashkent region reports.

    During the inspection of the hand luggage of a citizen who was going to cross the border on foot and enter Kazakhstan, items were found that were not specified in the customs declaration and which were not stated during the oral interview. In total, a citizen tried to smuggle four antique samovars, a microscope and a medical kit.

    Experts from the Cultural Heritage Agency conducted a study and found that these items were made in 1920. It has been established that they are among the cultural values prohibited for export from the territory of Uzbekistan.

    Investigative actions are underway on the fact of the incident.
