The Transport Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case against a private airline that violated the rights of pilgrims

    The Transport Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan is investigating a criminal case initiated against officials of a private airline that did not take measures to return Uzbeks from a pilgrimage to Umrah and committed other serious violations, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

    It is noted that in the framework of this criminal case, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied against one person.

    Other details were not disclosed in order to prevent factors that could impede the establishment of the truth in this case, the department added.

    Earlier it became known that pilgrims from Uzbekistan who arrived in the cities of Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah and faced difficulties returning to their homeland. As noted in the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah, "these trips are organized by private travel companies that do not have specific experience in this field."

    The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah took control of the situation. Constant monitoring is underway, and Uzbek citizens are provided with the necessary consular, legal and other assistance.

    After that, the Tourism Committee issued an official message advising pilgrims who suffered from the services of private operators during the Umrah and were unable to return to their homeland on time to apply to the court for compensation.

    The committee explained the incident by the flight delay on the part of Panorama Airways.
