The main purpose of the meeting is to strengthen professional ties between the anti-corruption agencies of the two countries, discuss mechanisms and areas of experience exchange, as well as make extensive use of the opportunities of the two countries in increasing the potential of employees.

For information: In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the National Office for Supervision and Combating Corruption (formerly the Anti-Corruption Commission) was established in 2011 to combat and eradicate corruption. The main purpose of NAZAHA's activities is to oversee the implementation of the National Strategy for the Protection of Integrity and the Fight against Corruption, monitor, evaluate and analyze its results, as well as develop work programs and implementation mechanisms.

The first dialogue between the heads of the two agencies was organized within the framework of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Authorities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, which was held in Doha (Qatar) in November 2024. As a practical result of this dialogue, at the beginning of the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the ongoing work to combat corruption in the two countries, and the possibilities of establishing mutually beneficial relations in this area were discussed.

During the meeting, Mazin Al-Qahmus highly appreciated the important measures taken in this direction by the political will of the head of our state, and also noted that Uzbekistan is achieving significant positive results in this area among the countries of the region, which is reflected in the annual increase in Uzbekistan's position in international anti-corruption ratings and indexes.

In turn, the Agency's Director Akmal Burkhanov stressed the importance of international cooperation in the development of anti-corruption reforms in our country, noting that a detailed study of Saudi Arabia's best practices in this area will further expand the opportunities for the introduction of new mechanisms in the fight against corruption.

After that, the parties held talks on the exchange of experience, the implementation of educational programs, internships and joint projects aimed at improving the potential and qualifications of employees of the two departments, as well as cooperation in other areas.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Agency and NAZAHA, which will serve as the legal basis for bilateral cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption, as well as at developing and strengthening the institutional capacity of the participants.

The Memorandum provides for mutual cooperation in the following areas:

exchange of research and development on corruption prevention measures;

exchange of information on scientific and other studies of criminal factors and actions leading to corruption, as well as on measures to prevent them;

exchange of experience and information for conducting joint training courses, training seminars and technical cooperation programs;

support for the implementation of joint projects aimed at creating an atmosphere of integrity and intolerance towards corruption in society, as well as the development of an anti-corruption policy and strategy, etc.

At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that establishing effective cooperation between the two sides is mutually beneficial for our countries, and specific tasks and plans for each of the areas discussed were identified.
