As part of the ITB Berlin 2026 international tourism exhibition in Berlin, Chairman of the Uzbek Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov held a meeting with WTTC President Gloria Manzo. The parties discussed the prospects for the country's participation in the organization's global initiatives and strengthening the standards of the tourism industry.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of accurately assessing the contribution of tourism to the country's economy based on WTTC analytical data, promoting investment opportunities, attracting international hotel and restaurant chains, as well as increasing Uzbekistan's competitiveness in the global tourism market.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTTC and the preparation of a cooperation agreement between the Tourism Committee and the organization. The document will be developed taking into account the experience of countries such as Saudi Arabia, Italy and Malta.
As part of the cooperation, it is planned to conduct an analytical study of the tourism industry, organize B2B and B2C meetings with WTTC members and investors, present investment projects and the tourism brand of Uzbekistan on international platforms, as well as receive expert support in the field of sustainable and digital tourism.
Against this background, the holding of the WTTC Global Summit in Uzbekistan is seen as a logical step. This will make it possible to present the country as a platform for sustainable and digital tourism, attract international companies and investors, and strengthen Uzbekistan's position on the global tourism map.
