Topical issues of the global leather industry were discussed at the meeting. They also discussed the ongoing work on the modernization of leather factories in Uzbekistan, the introduction of management certificates at enterprises.

Manuel Rios spoke about the innovations in the import of leather to Europe, effective from 2025. In particular, the traceability system is being introduced - tracking the skin at all stages: starting from the origin of cattle and small cattle, ending with checking for the production of which products the resulting finished skin was sent.

Mechanisms of implementation of this system in Uzbekistan were discussed in order to maintain the dynamics of Uzbek leather exports to Europe. The parties also discussed the strategic development of the Uzbek leather industry and the possibilities of cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest.
