A training course on ballistic examination has been organized within the framework of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime program

    On December 2-6, a training course on the topic "Ballistic examination of weapons and their components" was organized in the ballistic laboratory of the Main Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the participation of Lithuanian police specialists for specialists of forensic departments of internal affairs bodies and other state forensic institutions.

    According to the press service of the Main Forensic Center, the course is organized in accordance with an official agreement, as well as with the program of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime "Strengthening the capacity of forensic institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2023-2025 - Phase III".

    According to the approved program, during the training sessions, 18 forensic experts from the forensic departments of the internal affairs bodies and other state forensic medical institutions will be trained in the field of ballistics, during the practical lesson skills will be strengthened in shooting at a disabled passenger car from various firearms, determining the direction and distance to the car by footprints, bullets left on the hood, doors, windows and seats, as well as specific methods of drone inspection of the scene.

    On December 2, the opening ceremony of the training course "Ballistic examination of weapons and their components" was attended by the Deputy Director of the National Center for Drug Control under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Kayumov, head of the INL project at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, Nate Rettenmeier, representative of the regional office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime M. Sultanov, Head of the Main Forensic Center S. Nuriddinov.

    In general, this training course will serve to strengthen the evidence base of physical evidence in accordance with international standards in the investigation and disclosure of crimes related to the illegal sale and use of firearms.
