The new Consul General of Uzbekistan has assumed his duties in St. Petersburg

    The new Consul General of Uzbekistan Abdurakhmon Mahmudov has arrived in the northern capital of Russia.

    He is 37 years old. He graduated from Namangan State University (Bachelor's degree) and Tashkent State Law University (Master's degree). He worked in various positions in the Tashkent City Criminal Court and in the Foreign Ministry system. In 2019-2023, he worked as the first secretary, then as an adviser to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine, the Dune news agency reports.

    Abdurakhman Makhmudov replaced Alisher Babayev, who headed the Consulate General in St. Petersburg in 2019-2024.

    The consular district of the Consulate General includes the Northwestern District of Russia. These are 11 federal subjects: the Republic of Karelia, the Komi Republic, the Arkhangelsk Region, the Vologda Region, the Kaliningrad Region, the Leningrad Region, the Murmansk Region, the Novgorod Region, the Pskov Region, the federal city of St. Petersburg and the Nenets Autonomous region.
