A sub-regional conference on maternal and child health will be held in Tashkent

An online meeting was held between Asilbek Khudayarov, Minister of Health of our country, and Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

At the beginning of the meeting, A. Khudayarov congratulated H. Kluge was re-elected for another term as Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and wished success in his difficult and at the same time responsible work. He also expressed gratitude for the great attention paid to the Central Asian region, including the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that Hans Kluge's visit to our country in June last year gave a good impetus to further initiatives towards reforming the healthcare system, identifying priorities and tools for solving tasks.

The parties discussed the issue of strengthening cooperation in the field of maternal and child health, prevention and control of no communicable diseases, and the development of primary health care services.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is a country with positive population growth dynamics, where more than 37.5 million people live, 25% are women of reproductive age.

This indicates the need to continue cooperation in the field of maternity protection and the health of newborns and children, ensuring access to high-quality perinatal services.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the organization in Tashkent, with the support of WHO, of a Subregional conference in the field of maternal and child health in Central Asia, where it will be possible to identify obstacles to the implementation and institutionalization of measures to improve the quality of medical care in this area.
