    The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to improve the seismic resistance of buildings and structures, as well as to improve seismic hazard monitoring activities" dated 04/17/2024 was adopted.

    From May 1, 2024, volunteer groups will be formed in each region to involve the population in rescue work in case of a strong earthquake.

    From June 1, 2024:

    • in seismically active zones with an intensity of 8 points, when planning new construction, the design of medical facilities above 5 floors and buildings above 9 floors will be designed with active seismic protection devices, seismic insulation and a damper;
    • The new facilities of categories III – IV planned for construction will be equipped with an automatic blocking system for gas and electric networks during a strong earthquake;
    • Monitoring is being introduced to identify areas with a probability of occurrence of a strong earthquake in the near future.

    By July 1, 2024, buildings and structures whose technical condition is considered unsatisfactory will be restored by the method of "strengthening compensatory injection technology and returning deformation to its previous state" as an experiment.

    Since July 1, 2024, in case of an earthquake with a magnitude of 5 points or higher on the MSK-64 scale, data on the condition of buildings and structures obtained from automatic monitoring devices of load-bearing structures are promptly analyzed, Norma reports.
