In November 2024, Uzbekistan will host the Commonwealth Football Cup among youth teams. This decision was made at a meeting of the working group on the preparation and holding of the CIS championships in sports, which took place recently in Minsk.

It was attended by representatives of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee, BELTA reports.

The Football Cup will become one of the status sports competitions of the CIS, scheduled for 2024. In addition to the football tournament, Uzbekistan will also host the Open Commonwealth Chess Cup.

In addition, in August Belarus will host the CIS equestrian Championships and championships (triathlon) among men and women. Russia will host competitions in bench shooting and breaking.

The idea of holding the CIS Championships arose as a way to organize major sporting events between the Games of the CIS countries, which take place every two years.

On October 26, 2023, the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS approved the regulations on the Commonwealth of Independent States Championships.
