Elections 2024: international observers note good preparations for the elections

    Yesterday, on October 27, the Central Election Commission held a number of meetings with international observers.

    So, the Chairman of the CEC Z. Nizamkhodjayev met with members of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Group of the Senate of Pakistan headed by Irfan Ulhak Siiddiki and a group of observers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China headed by Sun Lijie, chairmen of the Central Election Authorities of Tajikistan Khudoerzoda Bakhtiyor, Turkmenistan - Gulmurat Muradov, Pakistan - Sultan Mohammad.

    During the dialogue, the issues of preparation for the elections and the electoral process itself, its stages, changes and innovations in the electoral legislation were discussed.

    It was noted that at 08:00 hours republican time, the elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Kengashes began, 1128 polling stations formed by territorial election commissions across the country began their work.

    After getting acquainted with the innovations in the electoral legislation of our country, the guests highly appreciated the positive changes in this direction. They also stressed that the current elections will undoubtedly fully comply with international democratic principles.

    In particular, Irfan Ulhaq Siiddiqiy, a member of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Group in the Senate of Pakistan, noted: "The active participation of citizens indicates a good organization of elections. I am sure that voting under the new electoral system, with amendments to the legislation, will ensure that voters cast their vote for their elected representative. It is also significant that in the new electoral system, attention is paid to gender equality, namely, the proportion of female candidates for deputies has been increased from 30% to 40%. There is no such indicator even in the developed countries of the world."

    Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazakhir Panakhov noted that the members of the delegation had been observing the voting process in a number of polling stations since early morning and came to the conclusion that the process was organized qualitatively in accordance with the Electoral Code. The elections, which are held in accordance with international standards, serve to ensure their openness and transparency.

    "One aspect should be noted - the elections are organized at a high level. We come not only to observe the elections, but also to study the practice of organizing elections with the subsequent introduction of advanced methods at home," said Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Tajikistan Khudoyorzoda Bakhtiyor. Having positively assessed the work on equipping polling stations with the necessary equipment and electoral equipment, as well as the training of members of precinct commissions, he separately stressed the availability of extensive information about candidates for deputies, election programs of political parties and candidates.

    It is worth noting that members of observer missions and representatives of foreign delegations visit polling stations in different regions of the republic, observing the voting process.
