IMF to expand support for irreversible reform program in New Uzbekistan

    On June 6, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in Samarkand.

    Issues of further development of Uzbekistan's multifaceted cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, including in such priority areas as reforms to ensure macroeconomic stability, and improving monetary and fiscal policy, were discussed.

    It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation with the IMF has noticeably intensified in recent years. More than 70 missions of the Fund visited Uzbekistan in recent years, expert and technical assistance is expanding.

    The IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva expressed full support and readiness to contribute to the continuation of the implementation of the irreversible reforms program in New Uzbekistan.

    Views were also exchanged on the global economy and sustainable development issues.

    Thereupon, the President of Uzbekistan completed his visit to Samarkand and returned to Tashken
