The UN Children's Fund has handed over to the Government of Uzbekistan equipment for equipping vaccine warehouses in the amount of more than 500 thousand US dollars.

The Republican Vaccine Warehouse received 118 freezers from UNICEF, capable of storing such vaccines as Moderna and Pfizer at very low temperatures, as well as seven thousand thermos bags for transporting vaccines and personal protective equipment for medical workers.

The equipment will be distributed to 35 vaccine warehouses of various levels throughout the country. Including 14 vaccine warehouses at the regional level, 15 warehouses at the district level, and 6 warehouses at the city level.

It is worth noting that the Republican Cold Chain Warehouse, located in Tashkent, opened in November 2021 with the assistance of UNICEF, and is the largest in Central Asia. It is designed to store a large volume of vaccines available in Uzbekistan, according to the principle of a cold chain with different temperature storage conditions. The facility is equipped with three refrigerating chambers with an area of almost 1000 sq. m (with a temperature of 2-8 °C), ultrasonic refrigerators (3,000 liters) and freezers (40 m3), and also has a dry storage of 1000 m2 for auxiliary materials for immunization.
