Article 155-3 "Illegal modification of the international unique identification code of a mobile device or the identification module of a subscriber device" has been introduced into the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which provides for liability for changing the IMEI code of mobile devices.

This is stated in the Law "On amendments and additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility" dated January 19, 2024, signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

"Changing the international unique identification code of a mobile device without the permission of its legitimate manufacturer, as well as the development, distribution of special programs or their use for this purpose, entails a fine of 15 to 20 basic calculated values (from 5.1 million to 6.8 million soums) with confiscation of the instrument of the offense," the document says.

Also, a fine of up to 20 BRV (up to 6.8 million soums) is imposed for changing or creating a copy of the identification module of a subscriber device without the permission of its legitimate manufacturer or legal owner. In this case, confiscation of the instrument of the offense is also provided.

The new article 155-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility will enter into force in three months, the document clarifies.
