A prolonged magnetic storm will hit the Earth on Friday

    Today, on August 9, a prolonged G2-level magnetic storm will hit the Earth, which will rage until Saturday evening. This is reported on the website of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISSF).

    According to forecasts, the disturbance of the geomagnetic field will begin after 15:00. Then at 18:00 it will develop into a weak-level magnetic storm, class G1. The peak is expected at midnight.

    Experts estimated the level of the magnetic storm as average - G2. The activity will gradually decrease and will end the next day, August 10. According to experts, by 18.00 the magnetic situation is completely stabilized.

    The next geomagnetic storm, according to scientists, is likely on September 1.
