Shakhrisabz Airport resumed work for civil aviation after 20 years

    On September 11, 2024, Shakhrisabz Regional Airport resumed operations for civil aviation flights. It is important to note that flights to the airport have been launched after almost 21 years. The city's air harbor was closed in November 2003.

    The first flight of Silk Avia from Tashkent landed at 13:10 local time. The flight time was 1 hour and 30 minutes. According to tradition, the L410 aircraft was solemnly greeted with a water arch, and the first passengers were greeted with the sounds of karnaya-surnaya.

    According to the press service of Uzbekistan Airports, the current airport, built 5 km southwest of Shakhrisabz, was opened in 1983. In 1983-1996, flights on the Tashkent - Shakhrisabz route were carried out 4 times a week in the summer months and 3 times a week in the autumn-winter season, as well as twice a week aircraft flew on the Urgench - Shakhrisabz route. In 1993-1995, flights were operated on the Tashkent - Karshi - Shakhrisabz route. Air traffic was carried out on aircraft such as An-2, AN-24, Yak-40, RJ-85.

    At the moment, the airport has the capabilities to provide civil aviation flights. The airport complex has a capacity of 100 people/hour.

    The airfield, consisting of a runway with a length of 1,554 m and a width of 35 m, two aircraft parking lots and four helicopter pads, allows you to receive the following types of aircraft: ATR-42, ATR-72, L-410 and all types of helicopters.
