Modernizing the healthcare system, particularly strengthening maternal and child health, remains a strategic priority of Uzbekistan's state policy. In this regard, expanding international cooperation, implementing best practices, and training highly qualified personnel are of paramount importance.

The 1st International Conference on Neonatology served as a vital scientific and practical platform, bringing together leading experts from over 20 countries to discuss pressing issues in neonatology and neonatal surgery.

The discussions focused on the perinatal period—the most delicate stage starting from 28 weeks of pregnancy through the early stages of infancy. Participants explored modern diagnostics and treatments for diseases occurring during this phase, with a particular emphasis on implementing global standards, introducing new technologies, and improving the quality of neonatal care.

Dr. Bakhtiyor Ergashev, Professor and Head of the Neonatal Surgery Training and Treatment Center at the Republican Perinatal Center, noted that the conference featured both theoretical discussions and practical sessions. Notably, German experts participated in complex surgical procedures performed on newborns, providing a unique hands-on learning experience for local doctors.

A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of results from a complex surgery performed in Uzbekistan to separate conjoined twins. Experts highly praised the success of this operation, which was carried out on premature infants, and noted the positive current condition of the patients.

In conclusion, ensuring maternal and child health is not only a medical priority but a cornerstone of national development and the future of the generation. Such reforms, combined with international expertise, create a solid foundation for the well-being of future generations.
