The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) has published a report on the situation with Uzbek pilgrims who arrived in the cities of Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah and faced certain difficulties associated with returning to their homeland.

Recently, information has been spreading on social networks about Uzbek pilgrims who arrived in the cities of Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah and faced certain difficulties associated with returning to their homeland.

It should be noted that the trips of compatriots are organized by private travel companies. This situation arose due to technical failures in the organization of air travel, as well as the lack of necessary skills and experience of travel companies to organize such trips.

Currently, together with the Ministry of Transport and other relevant departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, all measures are being taken to return compatriots, and a schedule of additional flights has been drawn up.

As of February 4, 2024, some of the pilgrims have already been returned to Uzbekistan, the remaining fellow citizens will soon be brought home.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah have taken control of the situation and are constantly monitoring, providing compatriots with the necessary consular, legal and other assistance.

"In connection with the above, we urge our fellow citizens to remain calm and comply with the rules in force in Saudi Arabia," the Consulate General said in a statement.
