Miners plundered electricity for 1 billion 329 million soums

    Employees of the Office of the State Security Service for the Ferghana region, together with the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, the regional Department of Internal Affairs and the Uzenergoinspection, carried out a number of operational activities.

    So, a resident of the city of Kokand, born in 1973, illegally connected 10 Bitmain Antminer mining installations in his relative's house to the public power grid without drawing up a contract with an electricity supply company. He used these installations from 2021 to 2024, as a result, the state suffered damage in the amount of 638 million 274 thousand soums.

    11 Antminer mining devices with a capacity of 14.85 kilowatts were installed in the house of a resident of the city of Fergana, born in 1989, which he illegally connected to the general electric grid. As a result, the state suffered damage in the amount of 320 million 118 thousand soums.

    A resident of the city of Ferghana, born in 1971, was engaged in the production of cryptocurrency in his house and also illegally connected 6 Antminer mining devices with a capacity of 12.4 kilowatts to the general power supply network. By his actions, he caused damage to the state in the amount of 293 million 284 thousand soums.

    Another resident of the city of Ferghana, born in 1989, illegally engaged in the production of cryptocurrency in his mother's house, connected 3 Antminer mining devices to the common power grid, without having legal grounds for this. He caused damage to the state in the amount of 77 million 585 thousand soums.

    According to the identified cases, the total amount of damage caused to the state amounted to 1 billion 329 million 261 thousand soums.

    Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against these persons under article 169 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an investigation is underway, the UZA reports.
