Prosecutor's Office: more than 5 billion soms intended for payment of salaries and allowances have been plundered in Uzbekistan

    In Uzbekistan, officials embezzled 5.2 billion soums aimed at paying salaries and social benefits, according to the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Khayot Shamsutdinov.

    Since 2024, law enforcement officers have opened 63 criminal cases on the theft of funds that were intended for social payments and salaries. The total amount of damage amounted to 5.2 billion soums.

    Employers also owed employees 2.4 billion soums during this period. It was possible to collect salaries for 366 employees.

    In addition, law enforcement officers opened 61 criminal cases for violation of labor relations. According to them, 1,198 people were brought to disciplinary, administrative and financial responsibility

    As a result of all the measures taken, law enforcement officers managed to protect the interests of 8,573 people whose rights were violated or infringed.
