Young engineers from Uzbekistan to create satellite in Japan

    Education 27 February 2025 1486

At a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and professors of the Japanese Kyushu Institute of Technology, this project and the procedure for its implementation were discussed.

Today, Uzbekistan, along with all developing countries, effectively cooperates with the largest and leading states of the global space market, prestigious agencies and top universities in the field of space research, the introduction of modern technologies and the training of highly qualified personnel for the industry.

In particular, the Uzbekcosmos Agency implements joint educational projects and programs with the United States, Great Britain, France, South Korea, China, Japan, Turkey and Azerbaijan in order to further develop space education in the country and increase the knowledge and experience of young people in such areas as technical engineering, astronautics and astronomy.

The agreement signed with Kyushu Institute of Technology, one of Japan's leading universities, also provides an opportunity for seven young design engineers to study for two years at a master's degree in spacecraft design, assembly and testing. During this period, they plan to create and launch into orbit Uzbekistan's first scientific and technological artificial satellite, 6U Cubsat, together with experienced Japanese professors.

It should be noted that the Decree of the Head of State "On measures to introduce aerospace technologies in economic sectors in 2024-2026" serves as the legal basis for the implementation of this project.

    For reference:

The Kyushu Institute of Technology began its activity in 1907 and is one of the top 1000 universities in the world according to the QS rating. To date, more than 70,000 engineers who are responsible for highly qualified students have graduated from this place. Today, the institute cooperates with many countries in the field of space education, training a group of design engineers and contributing to the creation of satellites.

In October 2024, the Kyushu Institute of Technology began promising cooperation with the Moldovan Technical University within the framework of the J-CUBE program developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and supported by the UNISEC consortium. This global initiative is aimed at developing nanosatellites and brings together universities around the world for joint research and development in the field of space technology.
