The President of the Senate noted in her speech that various conflicts, crises and humanitarian threats taking place in the world have a serious negative impact on the lives of millions of people. It was emphasized that in these circumstances, parliaments should play a crucial role in promoting humanitarian principles and protecting human lives.
Uzbekistan's initiatives in the humanitarian field were put forward during the Assembly. It was noted that currently, as a result of more than 120 armed conflicts worldwide, about 310 million people are in need of assistance, which makes the issue of compliance with humanitarian norms even more urgent.
Uzbekistan actively participates in international humanitarian movements, providing practical assistance to the needy population in unstable regions by providing housing, medical care and social assistance. These efforts clearly demonstrate our country's commitment to the principles of humanism and international solidarity.
During the meeting, specific proposals were also put forward to deepen legislative and digital cooperation between parliaments, effectively and target humanitarian resources, expand financial participation in global initiatives, and train highly qualified personnel in the humanitarian field.
It was noted that humanism is a legal guarantee of peace, the spiritual foundation of sustainable development. Therefore, the role of parliaments in this process is constantly increasing.
