Issues of UN cooperation with Uzbekistan discussed

    On May 7 of this year, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, held a meeting with the Acting Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Uzbekistan, Consuelo Vidal Bruce.

    During the conversation, the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies were discussed. In particular, attention is paid to the issues of achieving Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring gender equality, as well as environmental problems, including mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy

    It was noted that Uzbekistan's efforts to address topical issues of regional and global importance, the initiatives put forward by the President of the country on topical issues of the international agenda, are fully supported by the UN. This, in turn, means that relations with this authoritative structure are consistently developing.

    Ms. Consuelo Vidal Bruce highly appreciated the socio-economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, noted that the republic's cooperation with the UN has reached a new level.

    At the end of the meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, an agreement was reached to continue the systemic dialogue, expand projects aimed at sustainable development, protection and promotion of human rights and, in general, strengthen cooperation.
