The eighth plenary session of the Senate considered the priority tasks of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils of People's Deputies, arising from the priorities identified by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev on the effectiveness of ongoing reforms, the state of affairs on the ground, and addressing issues of concern to the population.

As a result of the consistent reforms and measures taken in the country in recent years, stable growth rates have been achieved.

This year alone, industry has grown by 6.4%, exports by 18%, and foreign investment by 46%. More than 2.5 thousand new capacities worth $3 billion have been commissioned.

However, modern development, global problems emerging in the world, new hotbeds of war and ongoing instability require bringing reforms to a new level, defining new tasks in accordance with the pace of development.

In particular, the factors that negatively affect the effectiveness of the reforms were noted.

Thus, it was emphasized that the work of ministries and khokimiyats, their regional and district divisions to resolve problematic issues is not effective enough. Many problems are caused by the existing shortcomings in the organizational and legal framework of the ministries and departments, khokimiyats.

Priority tasks in such important areas as water supply, infrastructure of districts and mahallas, food security, employment, combating poverty, increasing local budget revenues, reducing crime, road construction, public transport, urban planning, the implementation of the Yashil Makon project, and energy supply were discussed.

In addition, it was emphasized that in order to effectively implement certain tasks and instructions, new organizational and administrative reforms have been initiated, and a new system for solving existing problems and appeals from the public is being launched.

The senators noted the need to pay special attention to the following issues in order to eliminate the shortcomings noted by the President.

In particular, it was emphasized that it is necessary to coordinate the interaction of officials of the regions and the republic to eliminate the problems identified on the ground.

It was noted that it is advisable to bring the procedure for dealing with citizens to a new level, constantly analyze appeals, and bring problematic issues raised by the population to Senate meetings.

In addition, it was noted that when ensuring the implementation of programs and projects, it is important to focus on how effectively they have been implemented, what results have been achieved, and also to increase the activity of local Councils to ensure the fulfillment of certain tasks.

Following the discussion, the Senate adopted a resolution on the priorities of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils of People's Deputies in this direction.
