According to the information, financial assistance will be directed to the restoration of Lake Urmia and the protection of nearby settlements from waterlogging.
It is noted that the project will be implemented in 2024-2028 in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This is the second joint project between the two countries to protect the wetlands of Iran, especially Lake Urmia.
