An exchange of experience on fraud prevention took place with representatives of VISA

    A delegation consisting of the heads of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan is in Washington these days to exchange experience within the framework of the Trade Law Development program of the US Department of Commerce (CLDP). A number of meetings are held during the trip.

    Meetings were held with representatives of VISA, the Office of Currency Control of the US Treasury (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

    The experience of a number of developing countries in increasing the volume of non-cash payments was discussed with Robert Thompson, Senior Vice President of VISA for Relations with government Agencies, and Salvador Perez-Galindo, Vice President responsible for Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the African continent.

    In particular, a dialogue was held on the provision of services to customers through payment intermediaries by international payment organizations, the regulation of the activities of payment intermediaries by supervisory authorities, as well as the presentation of expanded indicators of payment systems to the public. The parties exchanged experience with representatives of the company on issues of fraud with bank cards and measures to prevent them.

    Also, with representatives of the Office of Currency Control, the US experience was studied in matters related to the control mechanisms of commercial banks and payment organizations, mechanisms for verifying established legislative requirements and preventing identified deficiencies.

    At the meeting with representatives of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, an exchange of views took place on the activities of this organization, control mechanisms, as well as processes for assessing the state of cybersecurity and information systems in the subjects of the financial services sector.
