On October 2, the premiere of the opera Tamerlane, interpreted by director Stefano Poda, took place on the stage of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater.

The premiere was attended by the assistant to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva.

The original music of George Frideric Handel, arranged by composer Kirill Richter, was performed by a symphony orchestra using Uzbek national instruments.

"The world premiere of the opera took place exactly 300 years ago in 1724 on the stage of the Royal Theatre in London. She became a striking phenomenon in Western European musical art, confirming the great interest in the personality of Amir Temur, the founder of the Timurid Empire.

"The staging of the opera at the Navoi State Opera House is a significant cultural event that connects the past and the present," Saida Mirziyoyeva wrote on her telegram channel.
