Today, on August 15, the fifty-fifth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan began its work in Tashkent. It is attended by members of the Senate, the Government, representatives of ministries and departments, members of the Youth Parliament at the Senate and media workers.

The plenary session, held in the video conferencing format, is chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva. You can follow the discussion of issues at the plenary session directly online through the Senate's YouTube channel.

The Law "On approval of the Entrepreneurial Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was considered at the 55th plenary session of the Senate.

The Entrepreneurial Code approved by the law provides for the unification of more than 100 legislative acts. At the same time, the main goal is to regulate relations in the field of entrepreneurship.

In addition, the Code defines the main task as the creation of guarantees and conditions for the free participation and interest of citizens in entrepreneurial activity, the protection of private property, as well as the rights and legitimate interests of business entities.

The Code unifies and enshrines the basic principles of entrepreneurial activity: legality, freedom of entrepreneurship, equality of business entities, fair competition, freedom from corruption, etc.

The Code divides business entities into small, medium and large (in practice, only a small business entity existed as a category).

The types of activities that individual entrepreneurs cannot engage in are determined. They are given the right to carry out any activity that is not prohibited by law.

The boundaries of state regulation of entrepreneurship, as well as forms of regulation, are established. Women's and youth entrepreneurship and their support system are being introduced in accordance with international standards.

The Code defines social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, socially vulnerable segments of the population, and mechanisms for their support.

At the same time, the Code establishes the legal status, goals and objectives of business incubators and prohibits the provision of benefits and preferences to state-owned enterprises that restrict competition.

It was noted that the adoption of the Entrepreneurial Code serves to unite disparate legislative acts into a single document, stability of legislation in the field of entrepreneurship, reduction of state interference in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as the establishment of a unified approach in the field of entrepreneurial law.

After an active discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
