Sacred sites and historical monuments of Uzbekistan attract pilgrims from Pakistan

    Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev met with the leader of the Tariqa (Sufi brotherhood) Naqshbandiya in Pakistan, by the influential religious ulama and peer, the custodian of the Eidgah Sharif Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Naqib ur-Rehman.

    The meeting was also attended by the son of Ulema, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan for ziyerat tourism in Pakistan, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Hasib ur-Rehman, the Dune news agency reports.

    Sheikh Muhammad Naqib ur-Rehman said that due to the fact that his ancestors go back to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, he wanted to personally greet and congratulate the new ambassador of his historical homeland, Uzbekistan, and expressed gratitude for accepting his invitation.

    He stressed that Uzbekistan is a second home for him, expressing immense respect for our country, which is the cradle of the development of the holy Islamic religion, and added that his feelings for our country cannot be expressed in words.

    Warmly recalling his visit to Uzbekistan with a delegation of influential religious figures headed by him in 2020, Ulem expressed deep gratitude to the country's leadership for the warm attitude and traditional hospitality, as well as for open, friendly and productive meetings.

    Sheikh Muhammad Naqib ur-Rehman praised the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan to widely disseminate the legacy of great thinkers among the population, especially among young people. He also noted the importance of efforts to prevent the impact of extremist ideas on young people by communicating the true and humane principles of holy Islam. The Sheikh stressed his interest in studying Uzbekistan's experience in this area.

    In turn, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Hasib ur-Rehman noted that his visit to our country, in particular the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, was widely covered by the Pakistani media - more than 2 million viewers watched TV shows dedicated to his visit on television, and, as a result, hundreds of thousands of viewers applied to visit our country, however, could not do this because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    - Sacred sites and historical monuments located on the territory of your country have no analogues in the world. In particular, such memorial complexes as the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari, the Bahauddin Naqshband complex and the Etti Pir sanctuary represent a great historical, cultural and spiritual contribution. These places are deeply revered not only by Muslims of Pakistan, but also by the whole world. Imam Bukhari's contribution to the development of Islam does not need to be described in detail - his role in the history of this religion is invaluable. He is the most prominent ulama of Islamic science. It is important to make the most effective use of this huge tourist potential in order to strengthen and further enhance the prestige of Uzbekistan in the Muslim world," Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Hasib ur-Rehman stressed.

    They also stressed the importance of using media opportunities to promote the image of Uzbekistan as an attractive destination in this area, expressed their willingness to cooperate on promoting the potential of our country in the field of ziyorat tourism through TV channels broadcasting in more than 160 countries, including with the personal participation of the sheikh.

    Recognizing the existence of a unique school in our country and the potential for teaching Islamic science, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Hasib ur-Rehman proposed to organize a visit of a delegation of prominent Pakistani theologians to Uzbekistan to discuss prospects for cooperation and plans for the future.

    In this regard, he expressed readiness to cooperate closely in attracting Pakistani investments to our country and use all his opportunities for this.

    In order to strengthen direct ties between the business circles of the two countries, discuss promising projects and sign mutually beneficial agreements, an agreement was reached at the initial stage to organize a visit by a business delegation, which will include representatives of promising companies in Pakistan. The delegation will visit Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Samarkand, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions of our country.
