Uzbekistan - Korea: cooperation in the field of healthcare will be strengthened

    On April 30 of this year, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva received Chairman of the Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on Health and Social Security Shin Dong Geun.

    The sides discussed multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, the current state and prospects for the development of interparliamentary relations, as well as joint projects and plans implemented between Uzbekistan and Korea in the field of healthcare.

    During the meeting, it was noted that the existing potential should be used to expand trade, economic and investment ties between the countries, increase the volume of mutual trade to $ 5 billion.

    During the dialogue, an exchange of views took place on social protection of the population, in particular new projects in the field of healthcare, including the joint creation of new medical centers, the launch of pharmaceutical clusters, personnel training, and equipping territorial medical institutions with modern equipment.

    During the conversation, it was stressed that in recent years’ relations between parliaments have become more active, and a close dialogue has been established between friendship groups. At the same time, the creation of a special commission in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis for cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea is recognized as an expression of the great attention paid to bilateral cooperation by the leadership of the republic. It was noted that the discussion of top-level agreements and joint projects within the framework of this commission contributes to their timely and high-quality implementation.

    Thanks to the established direct relations between the Senate Committee on Science, Education and Health and the Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on Health and Social Security, an agreement was reached to exchange experiences on maternal and child health, improve reproductive performance, prevent hereditary diseases, and attract volunteers for Insong social service centers.
