A few days ago, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with members of the delegation headed by Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank Shiksen Chen.

As noted at the meeting, in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, major investment projects are being implemented to develop the energy sector of Uzbekistan.

ADB is a long-term strategic partner that not only finances the development of the electric power sector, but also participates in large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan.

In recent years, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, special attention has been paid to the development of the energy sector according to market principles.

In this regard, a public-private partnership program has been approved in Uzbekistan with the support of the bank. First of all, the Law "On Public-private Partnership" was adopted.

A tender was held for the construction of a 457 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Surkhandarya region. More than 80 prestigious international companies expressed their desire to participate in the tender. This, in turn, indicates the high interest of foreign investors in the development of solar energy projects in Uzbekistan.

Also, a tender is being held for the construction of a solar photovoltaic plant in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya region with a capacity of 300 MW with an energy storage system.

In addition, with the assistance of the bank's experts, comprehensive preparatory work is being carried out to announce a tender for the construction of a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant in the Fergana region.

Also, with the assistance of the ADB, the expansion of the Talimarjan TPP is being implemented with the installation of two combined-cycle gas plants with a total capacity of at least 900 MW, as well as a project for the modernization and construction of the Zafarabad substation and 220 kV transmission lines connecting the Syrdarya TPP.

During the visit, members of the delegation got acquainted with the progress of projects in the Samarkand and Navoi regions, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
