During the negotiations, Ms. S. Giannini highly appreciated the active participation of Uzbek universities in organizing more than 80 promotional events around the world on the eve of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which will be held in Samarkand in 2025.
The parties discussed the possibility of holding a meeting of representatives of UNESCO departments within the framework of the conference. An agreement was reached to hold a meeting of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks at the Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Currently, there are 8 UNESCO chairs in Uzbekistan based on leading universities:
· Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering;
· University of World Economy and Diplomacy;
· Westminster International University in Tashkent;
· Uzbek International Islamic Academy;
· Urgench State University;
· TIIMM National Research University;
· Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
Minister K. Sharipov proposed to develop inclusive education by introducing international experience in teaching people with disabilities. He stressed the importance of improving conditions for students with disabilities and developing special educational programs.
The issues of expanding academic exchange programs, introducing digital technologies and artificial intelligence into the educational process were also discussed.
UNESCO has expressed its readiness to promote the development of engineering and technical education in Uzbekistan. Special attention is paid to the training of qualified mid-level personnel in demand in the labor market. The successful experience of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and the National Research University "TIIMM" in this area was noted.
UNESCO is also ready to promote the establishment of international educational relations and knowledge exchange. An important initiative was the discussion of practical internships for students of technical specialties in the real sector of the economy.
