Asian Women's Forum to be held in Samarkand

    On May 13-14 this year, the Asian Women's Forum will be held in the city of Samarkand on the theme "A regional approach to the economic, social and political empowerment of women".

    The initiative to hold the forum was put forward by the President of our country at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in order to realize the creative potential of women leaders of the countries of the region, exchange experience on further expanding their participation in government and society and in the economy.

    The forum, held jointly with the UN Women structure, will bring together about fifty representatives of foreign countries and international organizations.

    Within the framework of 10 parallel sessions, women parliamentarians of the participating countries, members of the government, representatives of state bodies and civil society institutions, businesswomen, political scientists, public figures, scientists, representatives of economic sectors and various spheres will exchange views on important topics.

    In particular, the issues of women's participation in scientific and innovative activities, in the field of education, as well as the use of digital technologies, poverty reduction through the economic empowerment of women, their involvement in entrepreneurship and innovation, and ensuring their leadership in the modern global economy will be discussed.

    At the same time, the issue of women's participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will be considered. Special attention will be paid to the issues of women's economic empowerment, the role of parliaments in stimulating their participation in business and society, gender-oriented budgeting, eliminating gender differences in the use of financial opportunities, and eliminating all forms of violence against women and children.

    The best practices and innovative approaches of non-governmental non-profit organizations to promote the "green" economy, the impact of climate change on gender issues in the region, as well as the protection of women's rights and interests will also be considered.

    According to the results of the forum, it is planned to adopt the Samarkand Declaration.
