A new Uzbek ambassador has arrived in Saudi Arabia

    Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Nodirjon Turgunov has arrived in the capital of Saudi Arabia.

    In 2021-2024, he worked as Consul General in the city of Jeddah, according to the news agency "Dunyo".

    He is 49 years old. He graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies).

    He began his career as a school teacher, worked as a translator in private structures, the Council of Friendship Societies and cultural and Educational relations of Uzbekistan with foreign countries.

    In the MFA system since 2016. He worked in various positions in the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2019-2021, the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Aktau (Kazakhstan), in 2021-2024 – in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

    Speaks Arabic and Russian.

    Nodirjon Tursunov replaced Ulugbek Maksudov, who worked in 2018-2024 as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia and permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, whose headquarters are located in the city of Jeddah.
