The meeting was chaired by the co-chairs of the Parliamentary Commission, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva and Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismailov.
The meeting discussed the work carried out within the framework of the 7th objective of the 10th National Sustainable Development Goal on the development of orderly, safe, managed labor migration and effective migration policy.
It was noted that in recent years, a number of reforms have been carried out in this direction, and legal, social and economic guarantees for migrant workers have been expanded.
In particular, more than 20 legislative acts regulating labor migration processes have been adopted, and mechanisms have been introduced to cover migrants' expenses for travel tickets, "work visas" and foreign language exams from financial sources.
The geography of labor migration has been expanded, and a system has been established for sending citizens to work in high-income countries, teaching them professions and foreign languages.
In addition, the number of migrants sent abroad in an organized manner has increased 5-fold, and the number of such countries has increased from 3 to 16.
Employers are charged sums of money from citizens whose labor rights have been violated and they could not receive their wages. In particular, over the past four years, over 5 million 950 thousand dollars in wages, compensations and insurance payments have been collected from foreign employers in favor of 13630 of our citizens.
At the same time, the existing systemic problems were noted at the meeting. Thus, the need to improve legislation in the field of migration within the framework of a single document, to ratify international conventions in this area, to reduce the consequences of illegal migration and to ensure more reliable protection of the rights and interests of migrants was emphasized.
Following the meeting, a corresponding decision and a roadmap were adopted, and the responsible ministries and departments were given the necessary instructions to effectively organize its implementation.
