The Chilanzar District Court of Tashkent city has sentenced a 24-year-old student of Termez State University, finding him guilty of illegally selling the Notcoin cryptocurrency. The young man was sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest.

According to information obtained from the case file, on June 1 of this year, a resident of Tashkent applied to the internal affairs bodies with a statement. Law enforcement officers promptly checked the facts stated in the statement, as a result of which an administrative offense case was initiated.

During the trial, it was established that the student, using the capabilities of the Telegram messenger, carried out the sale of the Notcoin cryptocurrency, receiving 800 thousand soums for it. The accused admitted his guilt, but at the same time claimed that he did not realize the illegal nature of his actions. As mitigating circumstances, he informed the court that he was the sole breadwinner in the family and petitioned for leniency.

The court, after examining the evidence presented in detail, found the student guilty of violating the current legislation regulating the turnover of crypto assets in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Article 155-4 of the Administrative Code), and sentenced him to 10 days of administrative arrest. As an additional measure, the court decided to destroy a bank card and a Samsung mobile phone belonging to the convict, considering them tools of the committed offense.

It should be noted that this is not the first case of bringing to justice persons engaged in illegal activities in the cryptocurrency market of Uzbekistan. Not so long ago, the Tashkent City Court ruled in favor of the National Agency for Advanced Projects (NAPPA), satisfying the department's claim against the Binance cryptocurrency exchange for a fine.
