There are 174 World War II veterans living in Uzbekistan

    As of May 6, 2023, there are 174 participants of the Second World War and veterans of the labor front in Uzbekistan. Such data is provided by the Ministry of Defense of the country.

    Most of the veterans live in the city of Tashkent (55), Tashkent (26) and Ferghana (19) regions. 10 of them remained in Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions. There are 9 veterans in Navoi region, 8 in Surkhandarya, 7 in Bukhara and Namangan, 6 in Andijan and Jizzakh, 5 in Khorezm. The least veterans left in Karakalpakstan and Syrdarya region are three.

    The ministry also reported that the number of World War II veterans aged 100 years and who have crossed the century-old milestone is 25 people. At the same time, the oldest of them is 112 years old.

    Recall that in Uzbekistan, each participant and disabled person of the Second World War will be paid a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 18 million soums this year. This is determined by the Presidential Decree of May 2, 2023.

    On Tuesday, May 9, at 21:00, a festive salute dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Honors will be organized in the capital.
