In Uzbekistan, administrative liability may be imposed for the illegal involvement of a child in the process of religious education

    Today, on June 25, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis at the plenary session conceptually considered in the first reading the draft Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan on further strengthening the rights of children."

    The draft Law provides for the addition of article 47 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility with additional parts providing for the establishment of administrative responsibility for the illegal involvement of a child in the process of religious education by parents or persons replacing them.

    That is, in case of illegal involvement of a child in the process of religious education by parents or persons replacing them, a fine in the amount of 10 to 15 basic calculation units will be imposed. If the same offense is repeated within a year after the application of an administrative penalty, this entails the imposition of a fine in the amount of 15 to 25 BRV or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

    It is also prohibited to involve a child by parents or persons replacing them in the process of religious education in violation of the law, that is, to transfer a child for religious education to unregistered or unlicensed organizations or persons who do not have special religious education and carry out religious education without the permission of the central governing body of religious organizations in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The bill was adopted by deputies in the first reading.
