According to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan, 130 schoolchildren from our country and 16 foreign countries, such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, India, Vietnam, Algeria, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Oman, are taking part in this Olympiad, the Dunyo news agency reports.
The jury consisted of academicians, professors and experienced specialists from Uzbekistan and from foreign countries.
This International Olympiad is held among teenagers aged 15-18 years in two rounds. That is, the knowledge and potential of the Olympiad participants are evaluated through written and practical laboratory work.
A member of the German Chemical Society, Professor Johann Planck, who worked for many years as director of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, came to our country as an honorary guest at the Olympiad. Professor Planck is one of the greatest scientists in the field of chemistry. Currently, he is also a professor at the Asian Technical University of Munich in Singapore and an honorary member of such scientific associations as the German Chemical Society, the German Society for the Study of Oil and Coal and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Within the framework of the international knowledge competition, a number of master classes for students with the participation of foreign specialists will be held. In addition, a trip to the cities of Tashkent, Urgench and Khiva will be organized for participants and guests.
This Olympiad will serve as the next stage of preparation for the national team of Uzbekistan in chemistry for the International Olympiad in this discipline, which will be held in Switzerland on July 16-25 this year.
The Abu Rayhan Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad will last until June 16.
