The World Bank has allocated $ 239 million to Uzbekistan to modernize the water supply and sewerage system. The leaders of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Finance with the WB delegation informed about this during the meeting in Tashkent.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Proparco (a subsidiary of Agence Française de Développement) are providing 87.4 million euros to support the first Total Eren project in Uzbekistan. A 100 MW solar power plant near Samarkand will be built and put into operation with these funds.
During his visit to Samarkand, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the vice prime ministers, ministers and sector leaders to appeal to the population about the work carried out in the region. In accordance with the instruction, officials headed by the deputy Prime minister, Minister of tourism and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov spoke about the work being done to develop tourism, sports and culture in the region.
Samarkand hosted a meeting of the regional representatives with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It was attended by heads of ministries and industries, deputies of local councils, representatives of the older generation and youth.
The free economic zone, organized by decree of the President of January 12, 2017, plays an important role in the development of industry and job creation in rural areas, effectively using raw materials and local infrastructure.
