During the round table, issues of promotion, protection and observance of human rights as one of the priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed.
Opening the event, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of UMED Sodik Safoev stressed that in Uzbekistan the issues of promotion, protection and observance of human rights are one of the priorities of state policy.
Ensuring human rights and freedoms in the country has become the main criterion for democratic reforms aimed at creating prosperous and decent living conditions for our people.
International human rights standards are being systematically and gradually implemented into national legislation and law enforcement practice. Currently, the norms of more than 80 international documents in the field of human rights and freedoms ratified by Uzbekistan are reflected in national legislation.
Foreign participants in their speeches highly appreciated the reform processes in the republic carried out under the leadership of President Sh. Mirziyoyev, as well as the open, consistent and pragmatic foreign policy of the leader of Uzbekistan, contributing to the dynamic growth of the country's international prestige.
During the round table, reports and speeches were heard on the main tasks and priority areas of implementation of the consistently pursued state policy to ensure human rights and freedoms in Uzbekistan, factors of sustainable development.
Measures to improve legislation were discussed, taking into account the priorities of socio-economic development of the country, generally recognized international standards, obligations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights, recommendations of the statutory bodies and treaty committees of the United Nations.
Attention is focused on the issues of ensuring the effectiveness of institutions and democratic politics as catalysts for socio-economic development, protection of human rights with the help of institutions of a strong civil society based on equality and inclusion.
