The Uzbek Foreign Minister took part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states

    On May 21, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in a meeting of the SCO Council of Ministers in Astana.

    The meeting began with a minute of silence in honor of the late Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan.

    B. Saidov congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergey Aleynik on the successful completion of all procedures for the entry of the Republic of Belarus into the SCO family as a full member.

    At the meeting, in preparation for the upcoming summit, a number of urgent tasks were considered in priority areas and areas of cooperation within the SCO.

    The sides frankly and constructively exchanged views on topical issues on the agenda, in particular, in the fields of economic cooperation, security, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian and other fields.

    It was noted that Uzbekistan stands for further strengthening the role of the SCO at the regional and global levels, effective use of its huge potential, especially in light of the expansion of the Organization, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
