As you know, the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which unites the parliaments of almost 190 countries, is held twice a year. The event is held only in countries with a high level of parliamentary development and positive experience of sustainable development.

During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan's membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Union was resumed in 2017. Over the past short period, our country has gained vast experience in the field of parliamentarism and sustainable development. The achievements of the republic are recognized by major international organizations and foreign countries.

The holding of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan is a historic event, as this is the first time such an event has been held in Central Asia.

During the meeting, it was noted that the main theme of the upcoming assembly in Uzbekistan will be the "Parliamentary Movement for Social Development and Justice." Within its framework, parliaments around the world will share their experiences and ongoing reforms in the field of social protection, poverty reduction, and ensuring the rule of law.

In addition, during the week, the committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union plan to organize various events dedicated to the protection of human rights, gender equality, science and technology, and youth.
