Cinema and Media in support of heritage: TURKSOY Forum was held within the framework of the VIII WOSCU Congress

    The VIII International Congress "Heritage of great Ancestors - the basis of the III Renaissance" in Uzbekistan became the venue for the TURKSOY Forum on the topic "New Renaissance: the role of cinema and media in the preservation of cultural heritage".

    The forum was devoted to topical issues of preserving cultural heritage in the modern world, including: "Cinema as a guardian of heritage: presentation of cultural projects and initiatives", "Global Media Cooperation: cross-cultural initiatives for heritage preservation."

    The forum was attended by representatives of the film industry from Turkic-speaking countries, who shared their experiences, tips and recommendations in the field of film production.

    Within the framework of the forum, a presentation of historical films was held, including: "Masjid" (together with the Russian studio "Lendok"), "The Age of Turks" (shooting with Turkish masters of cinema) and other projects.

    The film project "Makhtumkuli" attracted special attention. This year, the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet, philosopher, classic of Turkmen literature Makhtumkuli Fragi is widely celebrated under the auspices of UNESCO.

    At the presentation of the project, Deputy chairman of the Oguz Khan Turkmenfilm association and project consultant Sahysalyh Bayramov spoke about the filming of the film: "The idea to make a feature film about Makhtumkuli was put forward by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of his decree on the celebration of the poet's anniversary in Uzbekistan. In accordance with this decree, the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan began work and invited the Turkmenfilm association to implement the project jointly. The director was Muzafar Erkinov. Turkmen actor Akhmet Amandurdiyev starred in the main role."

    The presentation of the full-length feature film "Makhtumkuli" will take place in Turkmenistan at the International Film Festival of Turkic countries "Korkut ata" in November this year.

    Following the results of the forum of the TURKSOY international cultural organization, memoranda were signed and the resolution of the TURKSOY Forum "New Renaissance: Cinema and Media in support of Heritage" was adopted.
