CIS observers held meetings in the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and got acquainted with the work of a number of precinct commissions

    The observer mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States continues its work at the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

    During the monitoring of the preparation of the referendum, CIS observers continue to familiarize themselves with the work of precinct commissions. To this end, members of the Mission's Headquarters visited a number of referendum sites in the Syrdarya, Tashkent regions and in the city of Tashkent.

    Within the framework of monitoring the preparation of the referendum, on April 27, the members of the Mission Headquarters met with the leadership of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

    At a meeting in the Supreme Court, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Makhmudova Robakhon Anvarovna informed representatives of the CIS Observer Mission about the organization of the work of the courts during the referendum campaign, as well as about the procedure for considering disputes concerning the referendum.

    Deputy Prosecutor General Artykova Svetlana Baymirzaevna, during a meeting at the Prosecutor General's Office, told observers from the Commonwealth about the competence of the prosecutor's office to protect the rights of citizens to participate in the referendum.

    Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Abdullayev Bekmurod Tojimirzaevich, in an interview with representatives of the CIS Observer Mission, provided information on measures to ensure legality and public order in the process of preparing and conducting the popular vote.

    During the meetings, it was noted that at the moment there have been no complaints related to the referendum process.

    The Mission has 95 accredited observers representing the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the CIS Executive Committee.
