This year's theme was "resilience" (the ability to quickly restore physical and mental strength). The 100 Women project recognizes the impact this year has left on women around the world, paying tribute to those who, thanks to their resilience, create new lives and change the future, despite changes in the world around them.
This year's list includes Uzbekistan's Dilorom Yuldasheva from the Denau district of Surkhandarya region.
Two years ago, she lost both her legs in a harvesting accident. However, despite the tragedy, she did not despair.
"She wanted to learn something new, as well as help young Uzbek women earn a living, so she decided to open her own sewing business. Having learned the basics of entrepreneurship and resource management, she has trained more than 40 women in sewing," the BBC said in a release.
