It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program for Europe and the CIS, the Platform for Dialogue of Leading Women of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as the media.
Opening the event, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis T. Narbayeva in her opening speech focused on the creation of a Platform for Dialogue of leading women of Uzbekistan, which consists of active women from different regions of the country and is aimed at empowering women, developing their leadership skills, expanding the number of female leaders and raising awareness of men and women about reforms in as part of the gender strategy, conducting public discussions in this area.
It was noted that the main purpose of the Dialogue Platform of leading women of Uzbekistan is to increase the rights and opportunities of women, further increase the number of women leaders, develop their leadership skills and prepare young girls for leadership positions, eliminate gender equality problems. The platform unites active women working in various fields in 14 regions of our republic.
The platform also identifies the main problems of women in each region in such areas as entrepreneurship, science, information technology, media, sports and culture, supports leading women with disabilities, promotes the elimination of gender stereotypes and unacceptable social norms that create gender inequality.
The speakers presented data on the effective use of the platform and its further improvement, as well as a presentation of the platform.
During the event, an exchange of views took place on issues of assistance to women in supporting new approaches, ideas and initiatives, ensuring their active participation in ongoing reforms, transformations, political processes in our country, increasing the role of leading active women in these processes.
At the end of the event, the platform's work plan for the future was adopted, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
