Uzbekistan has established criminal liability for driving under the influence of alcohol

The Law "On Amendments and additions to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the road safety system" (No. ZUR 1033 dated 02/20/2025) was adopted.

According to the amendments to the Criminal Code, criminal liability is established for:

· illegal manufacture, transfer or use of state license plates or identification numbers, motor vehicles and their trailers (semi-trailers), as well as their forgery;

· violation of the procedure for training and retraining drivers of motor vehicles, urban electric vehicles and tractor drivers, as well as conducting exams and issuing certificates;

· driving under the influence of alcohol or evading medical examination;

· driving a vehicle by a person deprived of the right to drive vehicles;

· violation of safety regulations when operating vehicles powered by compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, or a mixture of diesel and gaseous fuels.

The Law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
