Bakhtiyor Islamov was elected Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan

    On August 10 of this year, the thirtieth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent. It was attended by members of the Senate, representatives of the court and prosecutor's offices, as well as media workers.

    The plenary session, held in a videoconference format, was led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.

    First, the senators discussed the submission made by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the early termination of the powers of the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    It was noted that the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, K. Kamilov, requested to be relieved of his post at his own request for health reasons.

    Following the discussion at the meeting, the Senate adopted a resolution on his dismissal from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The meeting also discussed the candidacy for the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    At the end of the discussion by the senators, Islamov Bakhtiyor Jahangirovich, who worked for many years in senior positions in the judicial system and administrative bodies, was elected Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    A corresponding resolution of the Senate has been adopted on this issue.

    After that, the issue of amendments to the composition of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan was considered.

    As you know, according to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan", judges of the Constitutional Court are elected for a certain term.

    It was noted that the term of validity of the current composition of the Constitutional Court established by law expires in August of this year. In this regard, the new composition of the Constitutional Court, presented by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was widely discussed at the plenary session of the Senate.

    A corresponding resolution of the Senate has been adopted regarding the candidates approved by senators for the post of judge of the Constitutional Court. At the same time, it is established that the newly elected composition will begin work after the completion of the activities of the current composition of the Constitutional Court.
