The delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the events of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna

    The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Director of the National Information and Analytical Center for Drug Control under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the meeting of the Paris Pact Initiative Advisory Group in Vienna, the most important structure for combating illicit trafficking in Afghan opiates, and the session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.

    During the events and meetings of the delegation members with officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the issues of combating drug trafficking in the republic, the work carried out in the republic through cross-border cooperation within the framework of international projects and programs were discussed.

    The position of the republic on Afghanistan was announced, information was provided on the assistance provided by the Uzbek side to the Afghan people, Tashkent's participation in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in this country, the activities of the International Transport and Logistics Hub and Educational Cluster in the city of Termez, as well as the initiative of the republic's leadership to create an international negotiating group under the auspices of the UN.

    It was emphasized that Afghanistan is an inseparable part of Central Asia and lasting peace in this country is the key to stability and prosperity of the entire region, the news agency "Dunyo" reports.

    According to UNODC officials, Uzbekistan is a key state in Central Asia in terms of implementing the Paris Pact and combating Afghan drug trafficking. They stressed the important role of the research center for the analysis and monitoring of the situation in Afghanistan, established in Uzbekistan and playing a key role in obtaining up-to-date statistical data related to Afghan drug trafficking.
